The Hokkaido University Graduate School of Life Science provides a systematic education aimed at developing a comprehensive understanding of life phenomena in the field of basic sciences while considering their practical application in the fields of applied science.
The teaching staff consists of outstanding specialists at the levels of molecules, cells, and individual organisms. Students are provided a deep and comprehensive education in a wide range of disciplines, including basic, pharmaceutical, agricultural, and medical sciences, while keeping in mind the applied aspects of these sciences. Three education courses produce talented individuals who will play active roles in various fields in the life sciences depending on the interest of each student.
The Graduate School of Life Science has further educational characteristics as follows:
1) Improvement of the learning efficiency by the intensive opening system that completes the requirement of each lecture in about 2 months.
2) Upbringing of talented researchers with a wide field of vision, by means of the plural supervisor system.
3) Flexible choice of the supervisor after a graduate student has finished with omnibus lectures by all professors.
4) New subjects corresponding to social requests, including life ethic, intellectual property, internationality, and bioinformatics. |
